HI, I’M AMY SLATER
Welcome to my website. Let me start this visit with three words… IGNITE. INSPIRE. INNOVATE.
When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see? How have you changed? What do you want to do that you haven’t done before? What is your purpose? How can you make a difference to the people around you?
These are all questions that I ask myself on a regular basis. Over the last seven years, I have become a student of my own personal growth and discovery. I am inspired and motivated by human connection. People who know me describe me as a connector of people. There is nothing I like more than bringing together people who are like-minded or who can positively influence one another to achieve their goals or simply to share stories and take positive steps forward in their lives.
For the last 25 years, I have had the privilege and honor of working for some of the greatest brands in technology like AT&T, Cable and Wireless, Cisco, Salesforce.com, TiVo, and now… Palo Alto Networks. Over time, I have learned best practices in Enterprise Sales Strategy and Sales Operations as well as coached countless people on sales methodology, process, and customer engagement. I am passionate about people and I strongly believe in having a positive mindset that will impact your co-workers and company culture as well as influence your family and friends.
I have had the honor and privilege of speaking to thousands of people around the world either in person or via webinar. My goal is simple. I aim to inspire others through my personal stories, experiences, and research that I have compiled over the last three decades. In turn, my listeners can ignite the magic within themselves and navigate a path forward in these times of uncertainty. As writer Louisa May Alcott says, “Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead.”
Simply put, my greatest pleasure comes from seeing others achieve their wildest dreams, and I get to go to sleep knowing that I have inspired change. With that said, I have made it my life’s purpose to influence people in the most positive ways possible. Come join me on this journey and let’s build your dream career, company, and life. Decide, Declare, Do What It Takes!

Throughout my career, people have put their trust in me in support of their professional goals and development which has further inspired me to work 1:1 as a coach and mentor. This passion has also led me to share my values on stage as a public speaker at various venues such as the 2014 Forrester Research Convention, as a panelist at the Domo Women in Business Tour, as a featured speaker at the 2016 Apttus Accelerate conference in San Francisco and at the 2016 LinkedIn Sales Connect conference in New York. These events have given me the opportunity to discuss topics such as the personalization of data as well as discuss my experiences and advice around being a female business leader in the high tech industry. I bring to the table discussions about being on “the other side of sales” as a buyer and expose what salespeople really ought to know about their customers. The common thread is the underlying need for human connection.

Have you read my latest book? While talking with my personal coach on the phone one day, I was struck with this deep desire to write a book. As a child, I was religious about writing in my journal and capturing the stories of my youth. At the time, I thought my concerns were so complex, even at the ripe old age of ten. I wrote about who I sat with at lunch and the friendship dynamics that ensued. I wrote about crushes I had on boys and what they might think of me. Finally, I wrote about my desire to be “perfect.” It was this striving for perfection that began to take over my life at a very young age, and it took me nearly 45 years to realize that striving for perfection was riddled with contradiction and fears of not being “good enough.”
When I was faced with three traumatic events in mid-life (divorce, IBS and my father’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinsons), I was nearly paralyzed with fear and uncertainty. I had no compass or roadmap to help catapult me forward. Somehow, through a twist of fate and a chance meeting, I was directed to a ted.com talk on vulnerability by Brené Brown. The content of her discussion was a big wake up call to me and since that time, I have never been the same. Through my reading of countless books on self-discovery, I was able to chart my own path to happiness and restart my life through a new, more positive lens. My journey became so magical that I was compelled to share it with others through my own stories and life lessons.
So, when I said to my coach, “I think I would like to write a book.” His answer was, “great, what’s stopping you?” My answer, “Me. I guess I am writing a book.” From there, I was inspired to reflect on my own experiences and to share them with others in a meaningful, relatable way. My goal was quite simple: I wanted to inspire at least one person so that they could experience the same magic and miracles as I had over the last few years. One thing about uncertainty is that it is certain. When readers finish reading Moments, they will be one step closer to living a life filled with happiness and know that they are not alone on their journey.
