I have three daughters. I have three amazing daughters. We probably all say that about our children even when they do things that we don’t like. Regardless of their mistakes, we still love them and want to protect them. Keeping them safe from harm is my number one priority next to loving them unconditionally.

At lunch yesterday, my 19 year old daughter and I were discussing the Stanford Rape case that has received much deserved press lately. She asked if I had read the rape victim’s letter to her assailant. Admittedly, I had yet to read the letter in its entirety, so as soon as I had a moment, I pulled it up online. I was haunted by the images that she portrayed in the letter and brought to tears at the thought of the pain she is going through and must have gone through during and after the attack. No one should EVER experience something like that.

As a woman and mother, my heart is heavy thinking about the suffering that women endure as we live side by side with one another. Why do these violent acts continue minute by minute? Our lives can be changed in a moment. Choose each day to be loving and kind and gentle to your neighbor…male or female, regardless of race, religion, or any other controversial classification.

“Goodness is about character – integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.” (Dennis Prager)

Wake up each day thinking how you will bring joy. Choose happiness.

Enjoy the moment!
